And that is basically it. Boring day of broken fingers, saunas, pools, great food and chilling out with guys... Thanks to my absolute laziness, I am putting two days into one, blah. Structured Intro 11th of July vs Swiss – Loss 12th of July vs Turkey – Win 11th of July - rain 12th of July – bus accident 11th of July – sauna and pool 12th of July – hair brush 11th of July – pizza Dennis 12th of July – washing machine 11th of July – broken finger 12th of July – My sisters name day Structured Intro over 11th of July sucked. Why? Well, we lost against Swiss and loosing sucks. Losing for the first time on the tournament sucks even more. As a player, coach, fan, whatever, I know that loses are coming but every time it happens it hits me like a truck. It is like there is this small void somewhere inside the brain. Like unfulfilled wish that almost became reality but not really. And this being said, the loss is behind me and now is time to focus and write about next moments from the tournament. Like finally eating a food of normal people :D I am going to look at this in details: After the game the group of our strongest teammates went up the stairs of Gatorade Arena and did a very, very brave thing. Those guys actually went up for the dinner just to find out how it tastes. And guess what? It tasted like *** like nothing they tasted before *** and that is why we went for pizza! YES! Look at this beautiful, tasty pizza, just look at this. And look how everybody is just chilled, relaxed and happy from eating a tasty, good looking Italian pizza. Waitresses were very nice as well. They actually chased us through the street. At first, there was a thought that we did not pay. But wait a moment, why are these ladies chasing us then? And as it turned out, they chased us because we forget our take away pizza! I love that place. So just in case you will find yourself in Turku, go here, it is nice: https://www.google.fi/maps/place/Ristorante+Pizzeria+Dennis+Turku/@60.4499453,22.2629224,614m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m8!1m2!2m1!1spizza+dennis+!3m4!1s0x468c76fc08986097:0x183d0f15642fa5f1!8m2!3d60.4490296!4d22.2658785 There was nothing much after that. Only sauna and pool. But who would like to read about naked lacrosse players? Everybody??? Oh, come on, people… Ok, ok, you got it but there were no pictures taken that night. I know, unlucky for all the ladies but believe me, it was just way too hot. So the sauna was at 70degrees. That is just that lovely sweaty temperature. The pool water was at 23 degrees. 10minutes inside the sauna, few minutes in the water. And it went like that for few rounds. After sauna and pool we just went back to our rooms. And after that? Nothing much, just good old fashioned story telling by Sam. This guy can tell a story! A little bit from the game: The killer K went to the whole defense. And the ball of the game went to the misterious person that is not yet indentified. Another highlight of the game was Simon’s finger. It decided it does not want to play anymore with Simon. So it ended up like this: One minute of Silence for Simon’s finger. Other than that, it was okay. And that is basically it. Boring day of broken fingers, saunas, pools, great food and chilling out with guys. Day 7 done. Day 8 below. . . . Finally, the day 8 is here! Where should I start, hmm? We barely made it to breakfast because we slept over the alarm. We had a short meeting after. And I will describe how this meeting goes. The whole team meets usually in a meeting room or in a meeting dedicated area. We talk about the previous day – positives and negatives. Coach points out positives stuff. What we need to work on. We go through the whole day schedule. In this case we are talking about meal times, bus schedules, alternatives, team warm up, field time, game time, etc, etc. We go through the plays, we talk defense and offense. Today we talked about Turkey. They can play little a dirty and exactly because of that our focus was to play it safe. At the beginning of the game Turkey had some good shots and nice ball movement. They played well. Around overall 7th goal in the game and few beautiful saves by Piso they just stopped. Even their bench was sitting and watching. I am not sure if they could not go anymore because they were too tired or something else. Anyway, they were really spread on defense and thanks to that it was easy to set picks and cut, get a ball and just score. And we did score a lot. We actually scored so many goals that it took me by surprise. I play lacrosse for 11 years and I have not seen that before. We put 30 goals in. We won the game and we are moving to another match. ( I do not like to play this way. I would rather stop, play some system, try what we talked about and use the whole 30. But it is difficult not to score if you are in front of the goalie with a ball in the stick and you have no idea if there is someone behind you ready to punish you for invading the house of the Defense…) And there was also this little bus accident. It occurred right before my own eyes and it actually looked epic, because of the Slovakian melancholic anthem that I was listening to. Driver was probably trying to go a little right so he could make a big left turn. Unfortunately he took a bit of the fence. Bus windows did not like it… Honorable mention from this day goes to my sister, who is a big fan. She is watching and reading everything we do here. She had a name day yesterday. Usually this day is not celebrated around the world but in Slovakia it is. So happy Name Day sister. Noko tore the top string. He is so sad... I almost started crying. We did chill and talked again before sleeping and we were also washing our clothes. No pictures to be shown, because all moms would kick us for mixing all the colors together :D And that is also a reason for this blog being posted so late. Check out some pictures from day 7 and 8: Next game against Finland at 19:15 local time - That is 18:15 Slovak Time
