Day 1 - Arrival For those who has no idea. Slovak Lacrosse National Team will be competing shortly at European Box Lacrosse Championships. Official tournament start is 8th of July. And I will be putting together an article each day. To give everyone insights on how we are doing at the tournament but mostly behind the scenes. This is not going to be an official blog of the Slovak National team. It is supposed to be more fun, more of “not so strict”, boring and official. Like fighting spirit of a random drunk finish guy, or the engineering in action by Noko and Simon, or Denis who is so scared of flying he actually has to eat some fancy pills and drink a bit to even get to the airplane, or the classic: like meeting guest speakers that are actually going to talk about black and muslim discrimination at EU conference held in Helsinki... Arrival. We took out from Bratislava around 7 am. Went by pretty nice bus to Vienna Airport (because nothing is flying from my beloved capital City – Bratislava) From the left: Simon “The Mighty” Thomay; Patrik “The Prince of Prievidza” Šagát; Tomáš Rydlo aka „Mydlo“; Ivan Černák only known as „Šofo“; in the beg is Noah „Noko“ Hoselton also know as the „Shooter“ The bus drive was actually pretty good. There was planty of space for legs and nice leather seats. I actually felt like a passenger in a Range Rover. And did you know they have those touch screens like in airplanes with new movies, TV or games? If you go with that bus, definitelly play Sudoku. After the bus we proceeded to Engeneering in action by Simon who was trying to fix Noko’s falling apart suitcase. On the picture: Simon, Noko Flight was super nice, no turbulence, nice weather, no clouds. We met this nice lady who is a guest speaker at EU conference, where they will talk about black and muslim discrimination in the European Union. We did talk a lot about minorities, history and the number of genders we currently have. Highlight of the discussion was finding out that her daughter was dating a boy, who was actually born as a girl but raised as a man. She was in love so they stayed together and her mom supportive and everything. Such a nice lady! I hope she is doing well at EU conference.
We got lost a bit at the airport and procced to wrong buggage claim. So the stuff of the airport had to took the whole team through the „VIP“ zone, where no civilians are allowed. Cool moment, now I know what those inconspicuous looking doors are for. After that we took a another bus drive from Helsinki tu Turku – another 2 hours of travelling which I fully slept through. Finally we went to Marli Arena where we will play some of the scrimmages before the official start. By the way, be carefull around here. There was this drunk finish guy, in the middle of the day, pretty much wasted, who tripped on his own leg and bounced of Bieber ( our defensive guy ) and wanted to fight him. Well... as other guys said, it was too funny and they walked away. I always imagine something like this :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9TOxohIv9w At the end of the day... which is around 2am in Finland because the Sun does not fully sunset during the night we just hang out, talk and to the lacrosse business.
